Moving Cunningham: Committee looking for new site for one of University’s oldest buildings
Cunningham Hall will be moving. And its future location has been narrowed to a few possibilities, with a decision on the recommended location due shortly.

Administrative Affairs
UW Commencements planned June 13, 14, 15
UW President Mark A. Emmert will officiate at commencement ceremonies in Seattle on June 14, as well as commencement ceremonies at UW Tacoma June 13 and UW Bothell June 15. The Seattle ceremonies will be at Husky Stadium starting at 2 p.m. Graduates begin to line up at noon. The academic procession begins at 1:30. The ceremony takes 2½ hours and could be shortened in the event of inclement weather.
Attention researchers: Office moves coming up
Departments having pending business with the Human Subjects Division or the Office of Sponsored Programs need to pay attention to their schedules. Both units are moving to UW Tower soon, and there will be some interruption in service.
Baldasty named interim vice provost, graduate dean
Gerald (Jerry) Baldasty, professor and chair of the Department of Communication, has been named interim vice provost and dean of The Graduate School effective Aug. 1. Current Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School Suzanne Ortega has accepted the post of provost at the University of New Mexico.

Nominees sought for diversity award
Nominations for the 2008 Diversity Award for Community Building are being accepted through June 13. The Diversity Award for Community Building is presented to a UW student, staff member or faculty member who engages in a change effort on campus that results in multicultural community building.

UW will expand certificate programs in Abu Dhabi
The UW will expand its certificate program at the United Arab Emirates Academy in Abu Dhabi. On June 2, UW President Mark Emmert and Mohammed Omar Abdullah, chairman of the Abu Dhabi academy, signed an agreement that will add courses to the program, and perhaps expand it to other Persian Gulf countries such as Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Chinese sport paper-cutting exhibit comes to Suzzallo
A traveling exhibit of paper art from the People’s Republic of China titled Cutting Ribbons for the Olympics: Exhibition of Chinese Folk Sport Paper Cuts will be on display in Room 102 of Suzzallo Library today through Aug. 3. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 3 to 5 p.m. today in the same room, and the campus community is welcome to attend.
Labor, environmentalists seek good green jobs
Washington state has set a goal of creating 25,000 “green” jobs. But will they be good, family-supporting jobs? And will we have the trained workforce to fill them? The Washington State Good, Green Jobs Conference — set for Saturday, June 21, in Mary Gates Hall — will address those questions.
