Students develop — themselves and photos — through seminar, exhibit
Ten UW freshmen will exhibit the results from their freshmen seminar, Develop: Production of a Photo Essay, beginning today in Odegaard. The two-credit seminar is designed to help freshmen explore, capture and share their transition to the UW through the development of a photo journal.

School of Music offers voice recital, guest artists and some heavy metal rappin’
Voice students will sing, guests will perform on double bass and piano, and the UW Percussion Ensemble will rap out wild rhythms in coming days, all sponsored by the School of Music.

Zigzag: Not the shortest route, but often the most efficient
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it isn’t necessarily the fastest or easiest path to follow. That’s particularly true when terrain is not level, and now researchers, including one at the UW, have developed a mathematical model showing that a zigzag course provides the most efficient way for humans to go up or down steep slopes.
