Crafty valentines
Visitors of many ages to the Henry Art Gallery's education studio got a head start on Valentine's Day at the gallery's recent "I Wanna Make It With You Valentine Craft-in" event. About 65 visitors joined artists including Matt Overton, Joe Park and Mark Takamichi Miller making custom valentines using vintage images and other creative embellishments.

James Morrow, the math instructor behind the annual Mathday, was cycling in Montana when he heard he'd won the most prestigious award in the nation for higher-level math education. Not unusual for the man who is as crazy about cycling as he is about mathematics.
Atmospheric Sciences scholarship to be named for Richard Reed
Richard Reed, a longtime UW atmospheric sciences professor, died Feb. 4 in Seattle. He was 85. Now the scholarship fund he and his wife anonymously endowed will bear their names.
