A precious gift
Sau Satele of the Puget Sound Blood Center, standing, helps Brooke Miller, UW director of student services for mathematics, donate blood Monday at the HUB. "It's something I've always wanted to do," said Miller. "I'm glad I did it. I think it's worthwhile." There will be more blood drives from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 25, and Tuesday, May 29, both in the Health Sciences Center lobby.

Peter Barletto, who has more than three decades of experience with submarine cable systems and networks, started work at the UW Monday, joining the project team tasked with developing detailed engineering specifications for a cabled underwater research facility to be built off the coast of Washington and Oregon.
