The Jacob Lawrence gallery is hosting an exhibition featuring smaller 2D & 3D work through Dec. 5 In the gallery.

The student show, juried by Sylvia Wolf, director of the Henry Art Gallery, is titled Does Size Matter? and highlights the best work coming from the diverse students who make up the School of Art.

In this exhibit, students are given guidelines that all 2D works are required to be less than 36" x 36" and 3D works are to be no more than 12"x12"x12". Working within those requirements, students extend the boundaries with their inventiveness. By restricting the size, students are forced to distil out the essence of their ideas, giving a greater gravitas to the work and visceral quality to their exploration of human experience.

The Jacob Lawrence Gallery is located in the north corner of the Art building on the first floor. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon - 4 p.m. All events at the gallery are free and open to the public. For more information call 206-685-1805 or click here.
