 | | | Kathy Sauber | | Betsy Wilson, dean of UW Libraries, hands a yellow rubber ducky to Carol Brittnacher of the Natural Sciences Library on Friday while staff members Cheryl Kinnick (center) and Maureen Nolan (right, background) look on. Eachyear since coming to the UW in 2001, Wilson has toured 49 of the UW's 50 library sites (all but Friday Harbor) to give New Year's greetings and a small and silly token of her respect. This year she gave out a very diverse variety of duckies, which she said represents both the recent soggy climate and a focus this year on diversity in the workplace. It makes for a long day for Wilson, who says she can only allow herself 3 to 4 minutes at each site to get them all visited in a day. |
