Since 1983, University Week has been published for the
faculty and staff at the University of Washington by the
Office of News & Information, in partnership with Health Sciences/UW
Medicine News, Community Relations & Marketing. The publication comes out weekly
during the academic year, except for quarter breaks, and every other week during
the summer quarter. There are a total of 35 editions per year. The deadline for
material is one week before the publication date.

Nancy Wick is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and spent
six years at a daily newspaper in Indiana before moving to Seattle. She has been
at the UW since 1984, working part time as assistant editor until assuming the editorship
in 2000. She earned a doctorate in Speech Communication from the UW in 1997.

Peter Kelley is the assistant editor of University
Week and a part-time media representative for the College of Education.
A former staff member who completed his degree through the Tuition Exemption Program,
he spent 15 years as a writer, editor and columnist in small-town daily newspapers
in Washington and Idaho before returning to the UW in 2004.

A developer at the UW since 2000, Ken Fine designs and builds the Web sites and
content management systems which drive UW News' online presence at
uwnews.org and uweek.org. His professional
interests include machine-mediated communities, programming, relational data systems,
information science, interactive media, and the challenge of insanely great design.
He earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington School of Art, and
probably also deserves a degree from the Daily of the
University of Washington, where he twice served as editor-in-chief.

Marsha Rule is the Health Sciences editor of University Week.
She joined the UW in 2000 as a writer and editor at Harborview Medical Center and
has been a writer and editor for Health Sciences/UW Medicine News, Community Relations
& Marketing since 2005. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri and
Columbia University.

Mary Levin is a graduate of Central Washington University with a BA in Art and Photography.
She earned an MFA in Photography at the UW in 1982. Mary has been working as a photographer
since 1984 for University Photography. Prior to working at the UW Mary taught photography
part-time at Bellevue Community College and Highline Community College.
